Privacy notice

Effective August 11, 2026

Your cup photo is not saved by Cup Read. It is processed transiently to create a reading, then discarded by our application.

What we process

When you request a live reading, your browser first resizes and re-encodes the image. Cup Read sends that temporary image and any optional reflection question to OpenAI to generate the result. We request that the API response is not stored as application state. OpenAI may still process service data under its own security, abuse-prevention, and retention terms.

What we store

• We do not place cup photos or reflection questions in our database.
• If you create a share link, we store only the cleaned reading text and symbols for up to 30 days. The photo is never included.
• If you join product updates, we store your email in encrypted form together with your consent record. We do not sell it.
• We keep limited, pseudonymous product events to understand whether the beta works. These records exclude photos, questions, email addresses, raw IP addresses, and user-agent strings.
• Short-lived pseudonymous counters are used to prevent abuse and control AI cost.
• On your device only: your recent readings are saved in this browser's local storage so you can revisit them, and any paid reading credit is held in this browser session. Neither ever leaves your device; both can be cleared at any time from the history panel or your browser settings.

Payments

If you buy extra readings, checkout and card details are handled entirely by Stripe under their privacy policy. Cup Read receives only an anonymous payment reference used to credit your readings; we never see or store your card information.

Sharing and choices

Share links are unlisted but accessible to anyone who receives the link. Do not share a reading that contains information you want to keep private. You can avoid optional analytics by not using the beta, avoid email storage by not subscribing, avoid local reading history by clearing it from the history panel, and close the page to clear the local image preview.

Access, deletion, and contact

For access, deletion, or privacy questions, email privacy@cupread.app. Product emails will include an unsubscribe path. We may retain minimal records when required for security or legal compliance.

Age and scope

Cup Read is a general-audience entertainment beta and is not directed to children under 13. This notice may change as the product and its service providers evolve; the effective date above will be updated when it does.
